Drone Video: Donated Longport Property Update

While some worried about removing beach property from the tax roles, Longport officials agreed to accept land and conditions set by Dorothy McGee, 88, who passed in Nov. 2023.

In her will, McGee left two beach block lots on 22nd Ave to Longport as long as the land is turned into a park featuring a gazebo named after her.

Commissioner Jim Leeds was open to taking over the lots; however, he voiced apprehension regarding loss of what could be a $10 million tax-ratable.

If Longport doesn’t follow instructions given in McGee’s deed, the land would revert back to McGee’s estate.

Longport could spend $100,000 to develop the park envisioned by McGee. However, Longport could apply for a state grant. The cost of maintenance would become part of Longport’s annual budget.

Margate resident / drone pilot Ron Brown recently took to the sky and recorded some airborne video of the property and surrounding area.

  1. Start the countdown

And now let’s start the countdown until the terminally miserable locals are complaining constantly on here about the noise, trash and parking issues that arise from Dorothy McGee’a act of generousity…

    1. I hope they have parking for the park. Oh forgot they will not let you park in the summer up there so they can have their private beach.
