Boardwalks are an economic driver for many New Jersey shore towns. But, it’s quite expensive for local governments to maintain, repair and strengthen their decades-old boardwalks.

CityFunding
Ocean City$4.9 mil
Sea Isle City$1.9 mil
North Wildwood$10.2 mil
Wildwood$8.27 mil
Cape May$6.7 mil
Seaside Heights$4.8 mil
Bradley Beach$4.3 mil
Long Branch$3.2 mil
Carteret$2.4 mil
Belmar$1.5 mil
Wildwood Crest$1.1 mil

If Ventnor decides to rebuild the entire boardwalk, that cost could reach $26 million. Ventnor will rely on grant guru, Jim Rutala to add to that number by applying for other available grants.

All grants must be spent by the end of 2026.

  1. Very happy to read that Ventnor will receive a $ 7.1 million grant for repairs to the Ventnor Boardwalk. Hope that most of the work can becompleted after Labor Day 2024 and completed before Memorial Day 2025. And that if not completed by that time ? Will then be completed after Labor Day 2025 and before Memorial Day 2026.

    1. Totally agree but doubtful. My wish is that they’ll actually fix what is necessary and stop with the wishing for more free money. Most of us Seniors don’t want to be responsible to come up with extra $ for projects that should be budgeted better. I’ve lived here since 1999 and am tired of constantly being asked for more (I:e:- the fountains) You can only see it if you use the back bay streets anyway. Who cares if water shoots out of it any longer. It’s not downtown like Margate’s fountains which are on main drag.

  2. $20 million grant to Atlantic City? So funny. How much of that will end up in the totally corrupt AC and CRDA administrators’ pockets? At least half?
