Jason Aldean’s recent #1 hit, Try That In A Small Town, has people talking. It’s a song that defends American values like family, hard work, public safety and patriotism. No surprise, this offends a vocal minority. The outrage is then amplified by mainstream media.

CMT, Country Music Television, at one time a dominant force in Country music, actually pulled the #1 hit from their channel playlist. Not many noticed since CMT lost most of it’s viewership to Internet streaming services.
CMT already getting hammered from both consumers and investors. CMT could face same fate as Bud Light, Target and Disney.
What’s so controversial about Jason Aldean?
In the video, Aldean calls out and condemns violence against law enforcement and innocent bystanders.
Lyrics: “Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk, carjack an old lady at a red light. Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store. Ya think it’s cool, well, act a fool if ya like. Cuss out a cop, spit in his face. Stomp on the flag and light it up. Yeah, ya think you’re tough,” the lyrics read. “Well, try that in a small town. See how far ya make it down the road.”
Aldean fans don’t appreciate the glorification of sex and violence in much of today’s pop and rap music supported by Atlantic City Mayor, Marty Small.
