Margate Blue House To Soon Unplug at 10pm?

The Margate Blue House could be forced to unplug it’s nightly light show at 10 pm. The Margate Board  of  Commissioners moved forward on a nuisance lighting ordinance at the June 16 meeting. The potential new law, forcing ‘lights-out’ at 10p, could go into effect within 2 weeks.

Complaints have grown from neighbors on N. Haverford Ave. The blue house has become somewhat of a destination for tourists and other gawkers, and attracts cars, walkers and other inquisitive types to this normally tranquil neighborhood.

The neon, blue flashing lights have been known to shine into living rooms and bedrooms of this Margate neighborhood

Margate Solictor; John Scott Abbott reported in the SHORE NEWS TODAY: “This lighting ordinance is a step in the right direction, and hopefully, it will accommodate the neighbors.” However, Abbott said he expects the ordinance will be challenged and the city will wind up in court.
