Police Shut Down Reckless Truck meet Pop-Up at ventnor Plaza

On Saturday June 10, 2023, at approximately 8pm, Ventnor City Police Communications received a report of a large number of trucks in the parking lot of the Ventnor Shopping Plaza on Wellington Avenue.

There were an estimated 400 trucks/vehicles along with about 1,000 people which had gathered at this location.

It’s presumed these individuals had recently come from the Atlantic City Truck Meet which was an event that took place at Bader Field.

Billed as “The North East’s Largest Truck Show” on its website, the Atlantic City Truck Meet took place Saturday and Sunday at Bader Field.

Ventnor City Patrol Officers arrived on scene to monitor the situation. During the situation several vehicles began performing dangerous and reckless maneuvers.

Police stopped several vehicles, issuing some for Reckless Driving.

With the assistance of Margate City and Atlantic City Police Departments, officers were able to disperse the group, the vast majority of which were cooperative and compliant.

There were no reported injuries or property damage during this incident.

Rick Lascheid: Strange, because about the same time a bunch of ATV’s and motorcycles roared down Ventnor Ave popping wheelies, etc. We all wondered, “where are the cops”, now it makes sense why they weren’t there. Their hands were probably full. You don’t have an easy job, Joe (Fussner), but we are all behind you guys 100 percent of the way, THANK YOU.

Commissioner Tim Kriebel: VCPD was fast and efficient. The kept the public safe and Plaza property clear . This escalated quickly and the response of VCPD was on point!

Linda Frazier Weaver: Once the event disbursed they also went zooming through Atlantic City blaring horns, revving engines, weaving in and out of traffic and driving wayyy too fast.
