The Downbeach Real Estate Comeback

Ventnor Boardwalk Home
Ventnor New Home Construction

When the health scare shut everything down back in March, the real estate market stopped cold. Rentals and sales. Buyers froze. They didn’t know the future of their livelihoods, let alone plans to buy a vacation home along the shore. The real estate market was put on hold, just like other so-called ‘non-essential’ businesses.

Some summer renters wanted to know if they could cancel and get back their money. Can’t blame them.

No one, I mean no one, was looking to buy a Downbeach vacation home. We couldn’t even show the properties if we wanted to. Open houses were a no-no too.

Then, in early May, word that our beaches will re-open for sun bathing, swimming and surfing. Even the Ventnor boardwalk would be open for walking or exercising. That’s when people starting thinking about the Jersey shore again.

Phones ringing off the hook. Some wanted summer rentals. Others wanted to buy a place of their own at the shore.

The big comeback.

Many confined to their homes for months, wanted to escape. A place with less congestion. Walk, bike or run without being on top of other people.

The Jersey shore offers a high quality, close-by vacation. In these times, most still not ready to travel by air. But many are OK with an easy ride from the Philly region. In just under 2 hours, you’re sitting on the beautiful beaches of Ventnor, Margate or Longport.

The desire to buy a Downbeach vacation home.

The health scare made people re-think their lives. Some saw having a place of their own, a short drive away from their primary residence, as a great way to de-compress. Affordably.

If you’re forced to shelter in place, why not do it where there’s plenty of places to walk, run or bike ride without tripping over someone?

Thinking about of selling or renting your Downbeach property? Maybe you’re ready to take the plunge and invest in a vacation home?

The Jersey Shore real estate market is hot. Especially in the Downbeach area. Now’s the time.
