Van Drew Questions Buttigieg About Busing 60,000 Migrants to Atlantic City Airport

Van Drew Questions Secretary Buttigieg. 9.20.23.

In August, the US Department of Homeland Security recommended that the Atlantic City Airport be used to house 60,000 immigrants being evicted from New York City by Mayor Eric Adams.

NJ Congressman Jeff Van Drew questioned Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg about placing 60,000 un-documented migrants at Atlantic City Airport.

Jeff and Pete.

Van Drew: Deeply alarmed by administration’s plan to use FAA campus to house up to 60,000, illegal immigrants in a town with only 50,000 residents.

The William J. Hughes FAA Technical Center in South Jersey is critical to National Security as it supports our national airspace and Traffic Control Systems. It also conducts classified research.

Through the Technical Center, the FAA owns and manages a large campus in South Jersey, which includes the Atlantic City International Airport.

More quotes from Jeff Van Drew:

Atlantic City Airport is an unacceptable place to house these people. There are no services or infrastructure at the airport that could possibly support this logistically.

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Migrants
Small & Adams.

Atlantic City Airport is surrounded by facilities critical to National Security. Besides the Technical Center, the 177th Air National Guard uses the airport to defend Washington D.C. and New York City from attack. These facilities cannot be compromised. This secure facility blocks billions of cyber attacks every single day. Most originate from China.

Atlantic City Airport was recommended for migrant housing because it’s part of the federal FAA campus. Decisions about the use of this property ultimately fall to the US Department of Transportation headed by Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

The traffic control towers at Atlantic City Airport are finally going to be replaced. They’re still using floppy disks from 1993. We need the best air traffic control system in the world. We need the best airports in the world.

  1. NJ Needs a Governor like Greg Abbott. How can this country continue to care for non-US citizens BEFORE taking care of our OWN…?!?!?

  2. Eric, Virginia — just curious, were your ancestors Native Americans or Vikings? Otherwise our families ALL started out as noncitizens…. Even your beloved former President’s family came from Germany, and his 3rd wife came from Slovenia with her elderly parents via chain migration. How conveniently you ignore those facts….

    1. Thank you for your insight. However, you’re talking about centuries ago and I’m talking about current day problems.

Also, please don’t assume I voted for a particular person as my political views are varied. (i.e. — I support abortion rights as well as the 2nd Amendment. I believe all are welcome here, but they should wait their turn as this country has enough internal problems. Welfare system is broken to the point where people don’t know how to work hard for anything anymore. Stricter penalties for convicted murderers, perpetrators of violent crimes, & rapists)

    2. Our ancestors and others’ relatives, to include all you referenced above, came here the right and legal way. It’s called applying for American Citizenship.

It’s called having an American sponsor and a confirmed job waiting. These ILLEGALS are not being held to the same standards by this current administration, sadly.

ILLEGALS are increasing our taxes immensely in order to be fully supported and treated like American citizens from day one, when so many of our own need the help and support.

Since you seem to know so much about American History, you can add this lesson to your portfolio.
