Congressman Jeff Van Drew declared victory on Tuesday night, but his opponent, Amy Kennedy has yet to concede.

Van Drew beat Democrat Kennedy for the second congressional seat in South Jersey.

From the Wall Street Journal: “This was a long and hard and brutal election. A lot of money and a lot of power were used against me, quite frankly, to remove me from my seat,” Mr. Van Drew told supporters Tuesday night. “We were in a difficult year. But the truth is we believed.”

Ms. Kennedy is a former schoolteacher who is married to former Rhode Island Rep. Patrick Kennedy. They live in Brigantine.

  1. He’s a gutless sell out and it’s an embarrassment to South Jersey to send this feckless soul to congress. He’s in the minority and will be utterly useless.

    1. A great asset, in what way? What has he ever done and as part of the House minority and a known turncoat, South Jersey will get nothing it deserves!

Stolen election, in what way? Prove it!

Maybe if you provided actual facts you wouldn’t be seen as a Fox News aka Trump TV moron!

  2. Van Drew may not be a great choice but the far left is hurting the center left, people are afraid of defunding police and radical liberals they see on TV and thats how Van Drew painted her out to be. weather thats true or not, perception is everything. Fox news might make Trump Morons but a steady dose of CNN will make you a passive agressive idiot. The truth lies somewhere in between. The bottom line is 78 million to 70 million does not make for a great nation to be great, we the divded people will suffer for 4 more years.
    (no MAGA reference intended)

  3. Charlie, the reality is I read a lot and no one trusts this guy, the Democrats surely don’t and neither do the Republicans, he will never have a chance to be in any significant leadership position so South Jersey will get left out. The argument against the Democrats is so bogus, only low information people would fall for it. Maybe when the Trump trance is over, we will wake up!

A direct Obama quote from today….

“If you believe, as I do, that we should be able to reform the criminal justice system so that it’s not biased and treats everybody fairly, I guess you can use a snappy slogan, like ‘defund the police.’ But, you know, you lost a big audience the minute you say it, which makes it a lot less likely that you’re actually going to get the changes you want done,” Obama said.

And how the republicans used that message…

President Donald Trump and down-ballot Republicans seized on calls to defund the police ahead of the 2020 election in an effort to paint Democrats as anti-law enforcement and insufficiently tough on looters and rioters.

And following disappointing finishes last month by Democratic House and Senate candidates in competitive races across the country, many members of the party blamed the GOP messaging for their losses, contending that Democrats did not do enough to distance themselves from “defund the police” rhetoric.

And thats how a bum got reelected. Just as I thought back on Nov 17th.
