Ventnor Swears in New Firefighter; Following in Dad’s Footsteps

Joseph Callahan Jr. sworn in as Ventnor City Firefighter.

Congrats to Joseph Callahan Jr. who was recently sworn in as a Ventnor City Firefighter.

His father, Joe Callahan, served as a Ventnor firefighter for 37 years.

A proud day for Ventnor.

According to the Ventnor Municipal website, there are 45 firefighters currently on staff. They’re made up of 4 platoons led by a Captain and a Lieutenant.  The supervisory staff is the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, a Training Officer and 2 Inspectors assigned to the Fire Prevention Division.

All members of the department are certified State of New Jersey Emergency Medical Technicians.

Congratulations! Please fix the Livestream so we can watch great moments like this for those unable to be there in person.

  1. I, too, was a firefighter for 37 years, in neighboring Margate, pretty much during the same time as Joe, Sr. “Joe Cal” was a legend in the firefighting community. If his son is half the firefighter his dad was, he’ll have a great career.

Congratulations Joe Jr. all the best for your future career in Ventnor. Know you can’t miss knowing your parents and grandparents. Ventnor Fire Fighters are the best
