Dinner & Drinks in Ventnor?

VENTNOR Commissioners will ask voters to approve liquor consumption licenses at local restaurants. A referendum question will be placed on the November ballot.

If approved, full service restaurants could soon serve a drink to customers in Ventnor. 1975 was the last time Ventnor considered this issue. It was soundly defeated.

Currently, Ventnor allows BYOB, where restaurant patrons supply their own alcoholic beverages.

If voters say yes to the referendum, the City of Ventnor could pass an ordinance and the bidding process would begin shortly there after. Bidders could include existing restaurant owners or Ventnor may try to attract other restaurateurs to open up in Ventnor.

The next commissioner meeting is Thursday, Aug. 18.
