Changes at Popular Ray Scott’s Dock in Margate

Ray Scott Dock Margate

Ray Scott Bonar is the grandson of the founder and namesake of Ray Scott’s Dock on Amherst Ave in Margate .

Ray posted the following on his social media account:

Hey all, here at Scott’s Dock we’re beginning to poke our heads out from hibernation and would like to kick off our season by announcing some big news.

For those of you who may not know me, I’d like to introduce myself.

I am Ray Scott Bonar, son of Capt. Robin Scott Bonar, who most of you know owned an operated Ray Scotts Dock for 27 years and the grandson of Raymond and Blanche Scott, who opened Scott’s Dock in 1959.

Ray Scott Bonar continues:

I couldn’t be more excited to tell you all that I am now the third generation owner of Scott’s dock.

It’s a bittersweet moment for me as I write these words.

I wish more than anything that my mother could be by my side, nevertheless, I am committed to the same family friendly experience and providing the opportunity for everyone to enjoy the bay as my family has for the past 65 years.

My grandparents opened up in 1959 as Scott’s Dock and in 1994 after my grandfathers passing, my mother changed the business name to Ray Scott’s Dock.

At this time, will be reverting back to Scott’s Dock and all of our social media, pages and website will be Updated to reflect that.

I asked that you help spread word of our name change and most importantly that Scott’s Dock will be here for the future. Stay tuned we’ve got other big news coming very soon!

Ray Scott Bonar.

  1. I am a longtime patron of Scott’s dock in Margate. Your dad helped me immensely when my husband passed and left me with so much fishing equipment I did not know what to do with. It was so wonderful dealing with a family business. I am so glad you are going to keep up the tradition. Best of luck to you!

Congratulations Scott. The Margate Kayakers thank you for providing your services to our group. We also appreciate the opportunity of being able rent boats to cruise the bay and go after the doormat Flounders.

As long as I have been a boat owner, Scott’s Dock has been my mechanic, fishing supply store and great conversation. Following the foot steps of your father and Robin your mother, is a privilege that only few can enjoy.

Robin is in the great bait and tackle shop in the heavens and I am sure, she smiles as she looks and sees that the only Margate marine store and boat rental shop is in great hands.

Great job and see you in the spring.

  4. I am glad you survived the fight. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing when we return from Florida.
I will honestly admit, I miss your MOM!
    Regards,
    Rick Botoff
