Fewer Atlantic City Casino Visits, In-Person Revenue Decline

Most headlines boast of Atlantic City’s impressive internet gambling gains. Too bad AC doesn’t benefit much from that.

In-person gambling is much better that online betting. Why? AC doesn’t have to share revenues with 3rd party, online gaming partners.

Year over year, Atlantis City casinos saw a 1.6% drop in that valuable, in-person gaming.

Most Atlantic City casinos seeing decline of in-person gaming:

  • Ocean up 18 %
  • Hard Rock up 9.6 %
  • Borgata down 6.7 %
  • Harrah’s down 14.7 %
  • Tropicana down 3.1 %
  • Caesars down 13.7 %
  • Resorts down 3.6 %
  • Golden Nugget up 4 %
  • Bally’s down 13 %

Congrats to Hard Rock and Ocean as they continue to dominate in-person gaming.

In-person gaming is best, keeps more money flowing within the casinos which then spills over into the surrounding community.

Online gaming and sports betting doesn’t really help Atlantic City’s fragile economy.

And with new NYC casinos just a few years away, things are likely to get worse for AC.

  1. Would you come to Atlantic City and spend driving time, tolls, gas, and PAY TO PARK?

Here’s an example: You’re heading to the bridge (either BFB or WW) and you say to yourself, “do I really want to drive to the shore, tolls, pay to park gas, etc!”

NO, you’ll go to PHILLY LIVE where PARKING IS FREE, and you save 2 plus hours driving, and gas. It’s a no brainer.

Now the Bet Rivers is another story. Security wise that you’ll never know about. It’s like walking out of an Atlantic City casino and making a wrong turn.
