Longport Beaches Ready for Pipes, Bulldozers, Dunes and Disruption.

Longport cautiously watching how the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and the NJ DEP will execute dune & beach widening work over the next few months.

The first dredge pipe recently landed in Longport between 29th Ave and Pelham ave.

Contractors from  Weeks Marine will work 24 hours a day, seven days a week to complete the controversial dune and beach project in Longport.

The pumping project will first send sand to Margate, then will flip the pipe and head south to southern point of Longport.

Longport residents have expressed concerned that problems like beach flooding could plague the town, similar to what happened to Margate.

Still unknown: will the Longport dunes travel down the beach center, or will they be built closer to the bulkheads?

The following Longport streets are closed for now: 30th, Manor, Pelham, 29th, 28th, 27th ave.
