Longport Could Move Farmers Market to Better Location

LONGPORT Commissioners may relocate the farmers market. The move could take the market from Longport Borough Hall, to the parking lot at Epiphany Church.

Vendors want a larger, more visible location on Saturday mornings during the summer season. Holding it in a larger location with more off-street parking might attract a wider variety of vendors and patrons.

The church is OK with the idea of holding the market in their parking lot. More space, more visibility, a wider variety of vendors.

The 2016 season was great, but Summer 2017, not so much. Competition between Downbeach farmers markets is growing. In neighboring Margate, their Farmers Market is on Thursday mornings.

The market behind Longport Borough Hall only attracted pedestrians and bike riders. This limits what they can buy and carry.

Some type of entertainment is being considered for the Longport Farmers Market. This would likely attract more shoppers and create a more upbeat atmosphere.
