Mick Green started an online petition to convince City Commissioners that Margate needs a skateboard park. The following is from Mick:
Aside from surfing, mini golf, and loitering around WAWA, there’s not much for a teenager in Margate city to do. In the past, some Margate residents tried to gather support for their children to have a skatepark in town, but they weren’t successful. Hopefully this petition created by local teenagers themselves will help inspire more support from the community. We (teenagers) need a place of our own. A skatepark would be perfect in our town because many kids and even adults here skate. This is a great way for us to practice, make new friends, develop new skills, and keep kids out of trouble. Not only will it provide a safe environment for skaters, it will also have a positive physical and mental health benefit on those who skate there.

Jack Green: This skatepark will be loads of fun! With a skatepark, it’ll make the kids of margate consider to pick up a new hobby! Kids can scoter, bike, roller skate, and skateboard! Who doesn’t love a loving community!
Gavin Tomaselli: As a kid in margate there is not enough fun things to do so a skatepark would be a great idea and would be loads of fun!
John Siganos: The fact that we are still talking about a skate park that should have been built years ago is what is wrong with margate !!!!! What is the actual fear?

Reed Burns: My parents can’t always drive me 20 minutes away to the closest skateparks, and I’m not gonna go biking 1 hour and 30 minutes to the closest park.

Not sure if a skateboard park is the answer, but our young people certainly need something. How I wish the old Margate movie was here and the bowling alley. Ah….the good old days.
What happened to “a residential community” to “let’s make as much money as we can!
These kids do need something. But, where would they put it. I do not know any place in Margate where this is feasible. They are skateboarding on the streets and this is so dangerous.
Skateboard park would awesome, then open an Urgent Care next to it so when kids and adults acting like kids bust open their heads and break bones, they can get treatment before the EMT’s take them to the hospital.
Maybe they can also offer treatment options for folks like you are miserable about everything and everyone.
