Longport Joins Margate in Blocking Online Public Comments During Meetings

The Longport Board of Commissioners have taken a cue from their neighbors in Margate. Longport has blocked public comment from those who wish to participate in public meetings via online conferencing software like ZOOM or Go-To-Meeting.

Many Downbeach residents are still concerned about attending meetings in-person due to ongoing health concerns.

The Longport Board of Commissioners meetings are still held in person with social distancing guidelines in place. Notably, masks are required for the unvaccinated even though viral spread is still common, even among those ‘triple-vaxed’.

Longport reports: Members of the public who wish to listen to the audio of the meeting remotely will have the ability to do so. This option is for audio only, no public participation will be permitted.

The public may listen to the audio of the meeting by calling:
United States (Toll Free):  1-877-309-2073
United States:  +1 (646) 749-3129

And entering the following access code:  464-810-189.

  1. Margate’s Three commissioners will not even respond to e mails requesting to enter into a dialogue regarding Zoom meetings for the tax payers to listen and comment on matters.

    What are they afraid of??
