From Press of Atlantic City — Voters rejected putting dunes on city beaches in Tuesday’s election. In a nonbinding referendum, 65 percent of the 2,292 voters voted ‘No’ to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ proposed dune project for the city, while 35 percent were in favor of the dune project.
“Margate citizens have spoken and with this overwhelming ‘no’ vote the community has sent a very clear message to our elected officials,” said Dan Gottlieb, a leader in the city’s resident-led dune opposition group, Margate Residents Questioning the Beach Project.
